Hands Down the Best Gyro Ever!

Visit TripTheLady for more on our visit. This is my favorite recipe for tzatziki sauce that makes any Gyro complete.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 3 cloves crushed garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves
- 1 large cucumber - peeled, seeded and shredded
DIRECTIONS
Using cheese cloth, strain the yogurt over a bowl overnight. Press excess liquid out of the shredded cucumber. In a medium bowl,
stir together the cucumber and strained yogurt. Mix in the garlic,
salt, pepper and mint. Chill the mixture for 4 to 6 hours or overnight.Perfect on top of any gyro or as a dip for chips and veggies.

NO! NO! NO! Why did you post that picture??? I love gyro but there are very few places anywhere near me that sell the real version, cut from the skewer rather than pre-packaged. Now where am I supposed to go to get one?

This recipe sounds awesome! I also like gyro meat in greek salad. You may want to use greek style yogurt in this recipe, its thicker.

My mouth is watering. There are not any Greek restaurants up here where I live. I will have to go to one when I am in LA next week. I already looked it up and it is less than a mile from my hotel!

I love Tarpon Springs! Love all the restaurants there. I agree, best gyro's ever! Which reminds me, I need to take a trip there to get some new sponges and have a gyro.

OMG.. it's been so long since I ate a gyro from that place. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
After 10 years in Australia and one more in New Zealand, I think I'm owed a Hellas gyro. I love Tarpon Springs and used to go there every few weeks when I lived in Florida.
