Dish Network drops ALL VOOM channels
Without any notice, Dish HD subscribers had stolen lost 15 channels because Dish Network decided it's paying subscribers didn't watch them enough. Did Dish ask any of it's subscribers? They didn't ask me and apparently many others are just as upset and highly irritated to have lost Monsters HD.
So, in protest, I have been calling the Dish Network support line at 800-333-3474 and asking if there's any news on when I would be getting my VOOM channels back. I also emailed the CEO and complained. If you would like to email the CEO of Dish Network you can reach him at:

They tried this a while back, to just get rid of channels... and one of the ones they had planned on purging was Lifetime TV. When Lifetime got word of it they began a huge campaign against DISH, telling their viewers to switch to DirectTV or something else. Even added the numbers and such for competing companies. Eventually, Dish came to their senses.
I imagine this time around they were a bit smarter in getting rid of the channels to avoid all the drama they once experienced with Lifetime.

Wow, that's wild. How can they just take channels away like that?? I don't have Dish but if my cable company took any of my channels away I'd be really ticked off. Good luck getting them back.

We loved VOOM HD with their original content, zero commercials, and 15 great HD channels! That is why we signed up for dish and ignored the monthy barage of directv and comcast marketing but not now! If they do not bring back VOOM HD we will cancel them!
PS dish bends the truth as they fail to mention that they removed 15 true HD channels and replaced with 15 weak channels and 7 new channels with loser channels like the cartoon channel? Is your 5 year old demanding bugs bunny in HD if that even matters? The same goes for other winners they added like the weather channel; does anyone actually watch that and care about it being in HD? Most of their HD is up converted and not true HD at all! Like the world fishing network in HD that is really filmed with some hick's handycam and the up converted shows are not as clear as the outdoor channel in standard digital. We are pissed to say the least!

we are canceling in two months as well if they do not bring back Voom! I have been starting to check other prices and my first call to directv would provide 10 more HD channels and a few more SD channels with a DVR like I have with dish and it would save me over 40% a month!

I am shocked and upset with the loss of voom HD! They were the best thing dish had! I will probably start looking at alternatives this month now that Voom is gone

Its about quality not quantity! They market a lot of BS like right now they say they are the leaders in HD and have added 22 new channels? Reality the dropped 15 of the best HD channels on the market, namely Voom HD. What did they replace? well 7 new channels with real winners like the cartoon network and the weather channel. The others are already in SD and not very good channels plus most of the entire 22 are up converted weak and nowhere near VOOM HD quality!
They can add more and more crap and without quality like VOOM HD channels there is no reason to stay with dish as Directv is better and cheaper! Right now Directv has 90 HD and dish 80 at a lot more. I checked my price and I would save over 40% with directv! Why give money to a company that treats is HD customers like crap by dropping VOOM HD and cleary not asking us! We HD VOOM users pay the most per month and what they shape their weak programming around people whom spent 29-39 bucks a month? I pay about $130 a month!

I have nothing but trouble from Dish Network. Now they have dropped the Voom channels without informing us. As soon as our contract ends, we are switching to other Cable Companies.

Yeah up here in Canada the Cable Co. pulled the Stunt of dropping one of the 2 CNN Channels cuz there were TWO!! Stoopid Idiots + they have so much Crap that nobody ever watches + like U Folks did they ever bother to ASK?? Heck No!!

It the typical ivory tower management that is running a company without talking to their customers, especially their premium customes! You would think common sense should prevail but they are clueless and want to brink more quanity of garbage channels and remove the quality channels, so dumb and they are so over paid!
I agree Voom HD was the best HD period! I think it is time to drop dish like an old outdated chipped low quality plate and replace them with something I want!

You can't succesfully navigate until you "fix" your position.
If you let Dish remove programming arbitrarily soon you will lose all other vital programming.
You will lose HBO and the likes also. Besides HBO doesn't need your money any more.
They have occumulated wealth that surpasses the GNP of some world nations.
They would rather branch into more lucritive dispensation of their power anyway.
What you will be left with is 2,000 channels of religious preachers pulling the wool
(your spiritual wealth) over your eyes. This will last until you become as 'dumb as lambs and as venomous as serpents'.

Instead of whinning "I want my VOOM tv" why not look for a 'healant' .
(healant .noun --not in the dictionary- created word- apply a generous rational definition for it.)
Meanwhile back at the internet ranch; you could 'search' 1- withdrawal symptoms, or 2- cold turkey; and see the similarities.
3- 1960 religious cults , or 4- halucinogens, or 5-1970 pay tv. These should branch to many links.
Upon examination you will see how an earlier generation was manipulated.
You may even 'convert' and use the internet for education instead of venting frustration.
An educated consumer rules.

I hope Voom wins the lawsuit! especially when dish clearly manipulates the truth. They claim to be the leaders in HD, they claim to have added 22 new HD bringing their total to 80 HD. That is all false marketing hype twisting the truth. Here is the truth they only have about 40 HD as many channels are duplicated on 2-4 channels. There are only 7 new channels as they fail to mention they removed the 15 Voom HD. Most of their HD lineup is up converted and not true HD. Their picture quality has gone down. Here are a couple examples of the new channels, the weather channel and the cartoon network; come on dish whom even cares about those and there is no real difference in seeing those in HD? I'm going to cancel dish next month!

Two months left on my contract from my upgrade to HD just to get Voom channels and I'm leaving them too.

Just canceled dish networks and moved to Directv instead. We have saved $788 in year one then $216 in year two and are getting the same channels plus a few more HD. American Express is giving $50 if you switch to Directv before 7/31/08. We love Voom HD so much that whomever provides Voom HD will be our next provider even if I have to pay a penalty!

Dish dropping Voom caused us to switch to Directv. So far after a month we are very happy compared to the poor customer service, low quality installation, and service compared to dish; we still greatly miss our Voom though! The Directv HD DVR is pretty close a little slower to switch channels but the overal picture quality in HD is better.
We would switch in a heartbeat if Voom was available again! Voom where are you? We miss you!
